A New Orleans Conference Center with Brains as well as Beauty shared by International House and Loft 523
Just steps from International House and Loft 523 in New Orleans’ Central Business District is the brand new shared Conference Center. Designed by the same team that created the stylish neighboring sister hotels, the new Conference Center unites acclaimed furniture designs with New Orleans’ finest architecture, remarkable wireless networking and refined Italian lighting systems. This is a business meeting space like no other.
It occupies a beautiful 100-year-old building, formerly The Medine Music Center, New Orleans’ preeminent music store in its day. Boasting one of three remaining cast iron façades in town, which is rated among the city’s most important architectural structures, the elegant space also features high ceilings, exposed beams, and towering windows.
The historic architecture belies the cutting-edge technology at work within: the Center features high-speed wireless internet service; the internal network runs at high speed, as well. The most contemporary audiovisual equipment is available for today’s high tech meeting needs.
Catellani & Smith’s Fil de Fer chandeliers, award-winning aluminum wire spheres internally lit with a constellation of elegant white lights, glow in the second story windows. The lobby is graced by a 10’ x 10’ oil painting by local artist David Harouni. Benches in the elevator lobby crafted from cypress beams salvaged from the original building are lit by Italianaluce’s “Nemo” standing lamps. Floors are carpeted in a graphic checkerboard pattern.
The Center has two conference rooms, one with 2,000 square feet with seating for 110, and the other 2,480 square feet, seating 100 theater-style. The third floor contains multiple break-out rooms and a unique sky-lit atrium space for more relaxed meetings and coffee breaks. It is named “Idea” for its soaring space and the creativity it promotes. Vecta’s award-winning “Ballet” tables and Steelcase’s distinctive rolling “Sweeper” chairs provide stylish comfort and functionality in the meeting spaces. All lighting sources are on dimmer switches. The Conference Center has a partial kitchen for a full range of catering services.
International House, across the street, also has conference facilities, including a 1,000 square foot room that can be divided in two with soundproof air-walls. It also has one boardroom, one with a beautiful custom-built wooden table seating eight people, the other accommodating up to fifteen.
How refreshing to find a conference center that appeals to the sophisticated side of business, and accommodates the most technically demanding requirements. No surprise it was conceived by the team that brought you International House and Loft 523 — acclaimed boutique hotels unique in New Orleans and in the world.
