Lilith in Loa: A Songwriter Series Hosted by Kathryn Rose Wood
The vision of the songwriter showcase at Loa Bar in the International House is to celebrate a rich, diverse wealth of songwriting talent in New Orleans and beyond in an intimate, luxurious setting; a setting that encourages full focus on the songs gracing the stage, and the captivating songwriters doing the storytelling. With the muse of femininity as inspiration, musical reminiscences of songwriters such as Joni Mitchell, Carole King, Sade and Roberta Flack will be displayed in the fresh, creative talent of emerging homegrown singer-songwriters.
Featuring multiple singer-songwriters performing their own works as well as collaborating on each other’s works, the Loa showcase invites the audience to be spellbound in melody, with each week offering a new journey in song. Every week features a new guest to the Lilith in Loa series – whether a prolific songwriter with a professional background or an up-and-coming artist stepping out of the shadows, the quality and craftsmanship of the featured songwriter promises to inspire and stun. Most notably, a portion of each week’s show will see Kathryn Rose Wood and her featured guest re-work influential, favorite songs from their individual influences into a personal, fresh collaborative set. The Lilith in Loa audience member can always expect to leave the showcase inspired by the writers and invigorated by the musical storytelling and soul shared at the series.
